We are aiming to expand the number of Southwark secondary schools taking part in the SSLP from September 2009. As we move into our new phase we intend to ensure that even more staff throughout our schools are in touch with one another and are able to share their passion for their specialist subjects, exchange views about current educational issues and share good practice with one another. We encourage SSLP colleagues to visit one another in their schools and to set up innovative pupil events and research projects together. We are already planning a continuation of the successful 2008-9 Philosophy Workshops and are investigating more joint activities in science, modern languages and in a new subject, engineering.
We are also exploring a new link which will involve careers, HE advice and developing pupils' "soft skills". Citizenship, including student community action, is another area where we hope to work together. Meetings for groups of specialist staff, including librarians and chaplains (for those schools which have them) have been suggested. In the past, many teachers have worked together in areas such as art, drama, music, PE, ICT, design technology, English, modern languages, mathematics, science and humanities and we hope that such relationships will continue to flourish. Our initial Pupil Voice project (2007-9) has now been formally completed, but there is clearly much scope for further links in this area, for example, regarding environmental issues.
